An investment in the future

Environmental and climate protection at ERGO

Protecting the environment and climate is an investment in the future for ERGO. The challenges posed by climate change, with increasing damage, have a direct impact on our business. That is why we are driving forward environmental and climate protection within our company with targeted measures.

We endeavours to make a positive contribution to the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is therefore an essential element of the joint climate strategy with our parent company Munich Re. As a service provider, our energy and resource consumption in our own business operations is mainly generated in our offices and during business trips.

We are therefore gradually switching to renewable energy sources for our electricity procurement at the locations that report environmental data. We also want to reduce our overall energy and resource consumption, including water and paper. We strive to avoid waste and promote environmentally friendly business travel. We value environmentally friendly rail travel and electric vehicles. We raise awareness of environmentally friendly behavior among our employees.

The carbon footprint of our business activities is the key indicator for measuring and evaluating our environmental performance. We determine our CO2 emissions on an annual basis using internationally recognized methods and conversion factors such as the GHG Protocol, CSRD, and ESRS.

Group-wide climate strategy
