Celebrating our cultures – locally and globally

World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development

Welttag der kulturellen Vielfalt für Dialog und Entwicklung

On 21 May, Munich Re, ERGO and MEAG celebrate the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (WDCD), which was established by UNESCO. The day highlights the importance of dialogue, empathy and cooperation for building inclusive societies. An interactive world map shows the cultural diversity of our company.

Alongside equity and inclusion, cultural diversity is part of our identity and our success as a company. The new graphic on the Munich Re website shows the countries in which the Group operates with its subsidiaries. Clicking on the various locations brings up statements from employees who share personal insights into their cultural backgrounds and the working culture in their region.

Cultural diversity is deeply rooted in the Munich Re Group's corporate culture – with locations in more than 50 countries and a workforce that spans all continents. We believe that our differences are crucial to innovation, trust and success.

Why culture is important

Culture is not just about where we come from – it shapes how we communicate, solve problems, build relationships and understand the world. By creating space for curiosity and cultural exchange, we achieve better results for our customers, our communities and each other.
